NAA

As our organization’s name suggests, we all live outside Ghana. You will find our members in the United States of America, Canada, the United Kingdom, Switzerland, Australia and elsewhere across the continents And as a charity organization, our main mission is to raise funds to help provide and improve learning, teaching and boarding facilities at Nisec.

Although we are spread across the globe, we are like a close-knit family. We keep in touch regularly through our Whatsapp platforms, where we chat about how Nisec is doing and what we can do to help solve its problems We also have fun. We reminisce about the good old days at NISEC: homos nights, fancy nicknames, mischief-making, the uniquely Nisecan “morals”, and our eccentric teachers And whether it is a member’s birthday, Mother’s Day or Father’s Day, we celebrate in style. Wherever and whenever possible, we get together, be it in Toronto, New York, Baltimore or London.

Are you a former Nisecan living outside Ghana? Do you want to give your former school a helping hand and have some fun along the way? You are most welcome to join us.

Our history

The arrival of social media has done the previously unthinkable: bring together the alumni of Nisec from far and wide. Classmates who hadn’t been in touch for decades and former Nisecans who had never known each other can now interact every day in a virtual community.

This is our story. This is how Nisec Alumni Abroad (NAA) began. It all started when a handful of past Nisecans living outside Ghana linked up with each other on a WhatsApp platform in late 2015. Photos of their former school were shared, which left them extremely concerned. The school was not in good shape. Facilities had fallen into disrepair. Classrooms, washrooms, dormitories and the dining hall that were built mostly in the 1970s had seen little expansion or upgrade. But the student population had increased fourfold.

These former Nisecans decided to act. Each knew a few other past students who they brought along to the platform with the aim of pooling resources to help their former school. This created a cascade effect. Within a few months, more than 100 former Nisecans had joined what is now known as NAA. NAA was formally launched on January 6, 2016. It is registered as a charity organisation in the State of Virginia, United States. NAA is open to all former Nisecans living outside Ghana, whether in Africa, Europe, Asia, Oceania or the Americas.
