Janice K Marfo was admitted to Nifa Secondary School in 1987. Janice left Nifa in 1990 due to special circumstances and went to Abetifi Secondary School where she completed her secondary school education.
During her five years in secondary school, Janice participated in various sporting activities including javelin, discus, and shot putt at the national level, and during inter-school and inter-house competitions. During her time in Nifa, Janice was honored with the position of Post Girl, delivering mail to the girls’ dormitories until she left the school.
Soon after graduating from secondary school, Janice left Ghana for the United Sates, where she enrolled at the Roxbury Community College to pursue studies in Health Care. She transferred from Roxbury to continue her studies at the University of Massachusetts where she graduated as a nurse.
Soon after her graduation in 2004, Janice secured a job with the Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center in West Roxbury where she continues to work as a Staff Nurse.
Janice is outgoing, laidback and philanthropic. For the past 15 years, she has been participating in the Massachusetts Annual Walk for Hunger event, which helps raise funds to feed people in disadvantaged communities in Massachusetts.
Janice also served as Assistant Treasurer for a small not-for-profit association of fifteen young Ghanaians in the Boston Metropolitan area for ten years, an experience she will bring to bear on her role as Assistant Treasurer.
Janice enjoys all kinds of music, loves to dance, likes to laugh, and likes comedy, reading, and traveling to see new places with her two children.
Of her many beautiful qualities, the one Janice is most proud of is being the mother of her two wonderful children.
