Gladys Nyadu (Mante) enrolled at Nifa Secondary School in 1979 and completed in 1984. Whilst at Nifa, Gladys enjoyed participating in the school’s inter-house athletic competitions, excelling as a track athlete particularly in 800 and 1500 metres. She remained unbeatable in those events. She also represented Nifa at the district and regional levels.
After Nisec Gladys continued her education at AgogoTraining College where she graduated as a qualified teacher. She then taught for a year at a primary school in the Central Region before leaving for Germany in 1990 to do a German language course at the University of Dusseldorf.
In 2002, Gladys migrated to the United Kingdom, where she pursued graduate studies, obtaining a BA (Hons) in Social Work at University of Teesside. After graduation, she worked as a social worker for two local government authorities. Currently, Gladys is working as a Practice Lead for Durham County Council. Among other duties, she visits her former university regularly, interviewing prospective students and supporting newly qualified social workers.
Outside of work, Gladys leads the women’s group at her local church. As a lover of sports, Gladys has joined a local running club, where she regularly competes in long distance events to raise money for charities.
