Aim

Undertaking projects to create an environment conducive to learning at Nifa is what NAA is all about.

Completed Projects

83 year group of Nifa celebrates their 40th anniversary and commissions the refurbishment of the old school entrance, which they’ve turned into a spectacular ultramodern entrance at Nifa Senior High.

This has come at a time that Nifa Senior High requires urgent help and support to tackle the infrastructural problems they are facing currently. The heroic effort by our fellow 83 year group and their tremendous achievement serve as a good example for other year groups to emulate.

NAA commissions girls' toilet

NAA opens $20,000 toilet facility at Nifa Senior High: Posted October 2018. Girls at Nifa Senior High School can now answer the call of nature in more hygienic surroundings with the opening today of new toilet facilities donated by Nisec Alumni Abroad (NAA). NAA President Nick Opoku said the ten-seater biofil toilet facility would help ease the inadequate toilet situation for female students at the school.

The school authorities have long identified to improve  toilet facilities at Nifa High as a top priority, and as former students of the school, we are pleased to lend a helping hand. Mr Opoku said, the biofil toilet is an environmental friendly sanitary facility that functions independently of sewerage systems and septic tanks. A digester-based system, the facility uses a filtering mechanism to separate solid from the liquid waste and micro organism to breakdown the solid waste.

Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, NAA Project Leader Michael Adu said, the commissioning represent a special moment for NAA and was the culmination of  many months of planning, fundraising and execution. “Today is a day we’ve been looking forward to in the two-and-a-half years of our existence”. Mr Adu said, the need for better toilet facilities here in this school is one of the main things that brought us together as an organisation in the first place. It’s true that we are no longer here, but our hearts and minds are forever attached to our beloved Nisec. “Nifa made us what we are. This project is one way we are giving back to the school”.

The new toilet facility was unveiled amid much funfair, with guests treated to the melodious sound of the school’s brass band. Attending the commissioning were the Akuapem North District Chief Executive, Daniel Kenneth; the headmaster of Nifa Senior High, Dr Phillip Victor Akoto; members of the Nifa Old Students Association (NOSA); representatives from the Jesus Christ of Later Day Saints Church, and staff and students of the school.

The biofil toilet facility is the first project to be undertaken by NAA since its founding  in January 2016. For more information, email nisecalumni@gmail.com

Current Project:

The immediate project under consideration is the renovation of the boys' dormitory block. Nifa alumni abroad (NAA) and NOSA are working collaboratively to mobilise resources both internally and externally to undertake this important project and others. Currently there is mixed feelings about having an ultramodern school entrance whilst the buildings in the school are in a deplorable state.
